“Ohhhh, Cherry Street Deli. I love that place!”
That’s the response we got whenever we told people where we were going this week.
Like most of our Local GR Eats selections, this was a restaurant we had never been to before. My first thoughts when pulling up…what a cute place. They have a wonderful pergola out front with tables and chairs, and hanging baskets on the pillars. I couldn’t wait to check out the inside. (more…)
When we began taking suggestions in our search for Grand Rapids’ best locally owned restaurant, The Electric Cheetah came up a number of times. We’d never been there, let alone even heard of it, so we had no idea what to expect. Located in the recently renovated (and very quaint) area of Wealthy Street, The Electric Cheetah offers a charming atmosphere with a nice selection of appetizers & sandwiches, and a fantastic selection of daily homemade desserts.
Food
We ordered 4 appetizers including Southern Raw Fries (which were actually fantastically delicious home baked potato chips), Tickle Pickle, Grilled Flat Bread, and Hot Goat Cheese. We passed the four around, all of which were so good that we nearly licked each of the plates clean. So far The Electric Cheetah was off to a good start. (more…)
When we began our search for Grand Rapids’ best local restaurant, Marie Catrib’s was a recommendation that came up time and time again. We were able to round up a group of 11 this week, all first time visitors.

If you’ve been a regular reader of this blog, you know we have a special place in our hearts for birthdays. When a nationally recognized local brewery celebrates their birthday, what do we do? Hang out and volunteer our services all day, of course.
We’ve been searching for Grand Rapids’ best locally owned restaurant for a month now and there are a few places that are coming up over and over again by all sorts of people. This week we’ve selected one of those places…Marie Catrib’s. Located on Lake Drive, they serve a variety of sandwiches along with salads, soups, and an assortment of sides. They also offer a selection of vegan fare. I’m looking forward to trying one of everything!
