Local GR Eats co-creator Matt, is celebrating a birthday on Tuesday (by the way…we’re still taking suggestions on where to go this week, so leave us a comment with your favorite local Grand Rapids restaurant.) We strongly believe in celebrating birthdays for at least a week, if not a whole month, so we started today. We hit up a great local hot spot on the lakeshore, K2 (or The Kirby House if you’re dining downstairs.) On a warm and sunny day you cannot beat this place, especially if you’re sitting on the upper deck like we were. K2 was hopping and we had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated, but who can complain about that when you’re waiting on a rooftop deck in the sun, overlooking the channel. We were disappointed to find out they don’t have their super happy hour specials in the summer, but we did get a free pizza because Matt’s birthday was less than a week away. Just an FYI…the Gilmore Collection has some awesome birthday specials like free lobster and prime rib on the day of your birthday, and other great freebies the week and month of your birthday. Definitely worth checking out.
