Quite Possibly the World’s Best Burger

Having grown up on the West Side and being of Polish descent, I’ve had my fair share of trips to the neighborhood “Polish Halls.” Most people only visit these halls on Pulaski weekend. I dig it. I was born Pulaski weekend, and heck, who doesn’t enjoy the occasional accordion? The thing is, these halls operate year round, and one of them plays host to the best burger in town.

Barb’s Burgers

This is Barb, the Wonder Cook

For those that have been there, that’s all I need to say. You see, this post is actually well past due. We’ve been going to St. George’s Hall on Quarry (between Leonard & Richmond) every Thursday for nearly 6 years now. Everyone that comes along agrees, this is literally The. Best. Burger.

Barb cooks the burgers along with the help of a few select family members. She’s there every Tuesday and Thursday and for a mere $4 you get a giant burger, a bowl of kapusta, a bag of chips and a side of pickles. These amazing meat patty delights keep St. George’s thriving year round. Everyone knows Barb and everyone loves her burgers.

If you don’t believe these burgers are world famous, check this out.

This guy was in Brugge, Belgium and missed his burgers.

Brussels, widely known for good beer, and for Barb’s Burgers.

Cinque Terre, Italy. Good Italian food, but nothing compared to Barb’s Burgers.

He got off the train in Pisa just to find a comparable burger, but came up empty handed.

Word on the street is that even the Romans are hungry for Barb’s Burger.

Representing at the Vatican. The Pope has to eat too.

Venice, the city of love. Love for Barb’s Burgers, that is.

Think you’ve had a better burger? Consider this a challenge…..Give Barb’s a try. I dare you.

For all you regulars, give this post 2 thumbs up, a pat on the back, and do a somersault… just for fun.

John – You’re very fortunate to have grown up with Barb’s cooking everyday! We’d like to make it down to the hall sometime for her Mexican dinners. I bet they’re amazing!
